Competing Online: What's on the Horizon in 2017?

18 JANUARY, 3PM–4PM
WEBINAR

Online retailers trading in Australia are required to comply with the Competition & Consumer Act and the Australian Consumer Law. The law covers a wide range of issues: pricing displays online, advertising rules, product safety and recalls, consumer refunds, the sharing economy, platform reviews, and much more. What are your rights and obligations and what are the priority issues coming up?

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission Depty Chair Dr Michael Schaper will preview some of the big issues for 2017, provide an insight into how the ACCC deals with complaints and enforces the law, and discuss recent actions to deal with subscription traps, masked reviews and drip pricing.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

  • Avoiding pitfalls around misleading and deceptive conduct
  • Handling online reviews
  • Trading in the sharing economy
  • Supplying safe products
  • Banning excessive card surcharges
