Michaela is one of the most experienced digital strategists in Australia with over 25 years of hands on industry experience. She creates successful digital strategy projects that make sense, can be executed and measured. Her areas of specialisation are CRO and Personalisation. Michaela is providing change management and process advice to organisations that are going through digital transformation and struggle with organisational, capability issues and technology. Michaela is a certified scrum master, a mentor to various start ups as well as the founder of CRO PROS, an industry meetup which is supported by ADMA and hosted on a monthly basis.
Wayne started with Booktopia in 2008, and has evolved from a software developer cutting code and building Booktopia's bespoke website to become one of the key leaders in the business. At Booktopia, Wayne is responsible for all systems, both internal and external and also sits on Booktopia's board. Wayne has been responsible for the development of all aspects of the Booktopia website, the design and development of their custom built warehouse management system and their recently released and ever evolving eBook platform. With the recent acquisition of Angus & Robertson Bookworld Wayne now oversees all technology across both brands and was responsible for the integration of Angus & Robertson Bookworld into Booktopia’s systems. Wayne was recently named as one of Inside Retail and Deloitte’s Top 50 People in E-Commerce and in 2013 was a finalist for the BRW’s Best Rising Star Award.
Fi is one of Westpac / AFR's 100 Women of Influence 2015. Described by CEO Magazine as The CEO's Secret Weapon, she is one of Australia’s most respected thought leaders in the digital space. As an expert and pioneer in digital strategy and with over 23 years experience in the digital / tech sector over three continents, Fi has a depth of understanding unique to Australia. Fi has developed key digital strategies in London and New York for large companies such as BBC and Virgin. Today she leads Bendalls Group working with blue chip organisations in Australia from financial services, to retail to FMCG and B2B. She regularly speaks at a wide range of international conferences and is an incumbent specialist speaker to the highly regarded CEO Circle. Fi is an Advisory Board Member of the First 5000 Group, Founder and Board Director of Generosity, and Advisory Board Member of Ausmumpreneurs.
Shenae is a Research Consultant and the Corporate Partnership Manager at the ACRS. In this role, Shenae manages all aspects of the ACRS Corporate Research Partnership program and is involved in a range of quantitative and qualitative commercial research projects. Shenae graduated with a PhD in Marketing from Monash University focusing on partner selection in brand alliances. She presents to industry and academic audiences across Australia, New Zealand, France and South America on brand strategy, B2B branding and consumer behaviour. Shenae also has teaching experience in Market Theory and Practice and Product Packaging and Design.
Rod is the Founder and 'Chief Upgrade Evangelist' of RamCity.com.au, a fast growing pureplay online retailer specialising in computer memory and storage upgrades. Rod is a teacher at heart, and confesses to having made 'more mistakes than most' since starting RamCity back in 2003. His main areas of expertise include selling in overseas marketplaces including Amazon and Trademe, Neto Ecommerce, Saasu, email and display remarketing, pay per click marketing, and 3PWL (3rd party warehousing and logistics). Rod speaks regularly at industry conferences including Internet Retailer on the Gold Coast and Online Retailer in Sydney, and has broad experience in all aspects of eCommerce.
Anthony has led Rakuten Marketing, whose services include affiliate marketing, display/retargeting and omnichannel attribution, since its days as a start up and has achieved exponential growth across all its channels. Anthony has experience in working with local and international brands to ensure their digital objectives are met. He has over 17 years’ experience in working alongside many of Australia’s major retailers and has a strong appetite to having his teams deliver the highest level of performance and customer service in the industries he has worked across. Passionate about the Australian retail landscape, Anthony is driven to ensuring transparent and measureable digital strategies are executed on behalf of clients.
Jane is the founder of Birdsnest.com.au, a pioneer Australian retail brand, headquartered in rural New South Wales. Prior to that she worked at IBM consulting on e-Business strategies. She has a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of New South Wales in Information Systems. An advocate of the importance of team culture, Jane is passionate about the future of retail in Australia and believes that is at the heart and centre of her organisation. She is particularly excited about the increasingly interesting careers retail is creating and ensuring that the Australian retail workforce continues to flourish.
Luke is a successful and experienced senior manager with a suite of skills across the Supply Chain, eCommerce and Retail industries. Driven by his relentless focus on the consumer experience, Luke’s passion lies in the successful transaction between a business and an end user being exceptional – and constructing supply chains that facilitate this. Having worked with well known retailers such as The Iconic helping bring 3 hour delivery to the market, Zanui, Temple and Webster and the eBay market place, Luke brings a unique skill set to the market and is able to combine this knowledge and experience to be a leader in the eCommerce Supply Chain space in the Australian market. With an eye to the future, he looks to bring fresh ideas and creative thinking into new retail supply chain. Luke’s current role is leading the Toll eCommerce and Consumer business.
Jeremy has held a number of roles in digital media since starting in the industry in the mid-90’s during dot.com 1 in the UK; since then he has held Senior Management positions across eCommerce and Advertising including Search, Mobile and Enterprise systems, for internationally recognised companies such as Google where he was Head of Commerce for AUNZ, Yahoo! AUNZ as Head of eCommerce and Criteo as Managing Director AUNZ. Jeremy has also been involved in four start-ups either as an investor, part of the founding team or as an early stage employee. He has been advising companies on their eCommerce and digital media strategies in Australia since 2004.
Gayle leads Grant Thornton's multi-disciplinary retail team in Sydney, helping her clients navigate complexity and hunt down new opportunities. Gayle is regularly invited to comment in the media on industry hot topics and releases periodic thought leadership. She understands retail and is passionate about the new retail opportunities.
Mark is a pioneer in Australian eCommerce, having founded internetretailing.com.au, Australia’s first online retailing publication, in 2008. Previously COO and part of the early executive team at Catch of the Day, Mark was instrumental in leading the due diligence process prior to investment by a consortium of shareholders. MBA qualified, Mark has a wealth of experience in traditional retail and multichannel operations, bolstered by his experience and contributions as General Manager and Head of Strategic Development in the Victoria Station Group for over eight years. Mark currently consults to entrepreneurs and businesses in B2B eCommerce, eCommerce and retail strategy, operational improvement, digital marketing and measurement, website development, systems integration and implementation and financial systems accounting.

Rob leads Shippit's strategy and marketing efforts and brings a common-sense approach to Australian retailing with a passion for customer-driven innovation and simplification. Having spent almost a decade working for the world's leading FMCG businesses (Procter & Gamble, Unilever) across Asia, Rob has vast experience in converting customer insight and analytics into growth driving strategies for retailers such as Woolworths, Coles, Tesco & Priceline and numerous global brands. Rob’s frustration as an online shopper drove him to co-found Shippit to enhance the ‘anticipation' phase in delivery for all recipients on the platform. Now enhancing delivery for such retailers as Harvey Norman, The Academy Brand and Urban Couture, more Australian shoppers are set to benefit from the platform.
Alita is known as one of Australia's leading Digital Marketing Futurists and the brains behind Milk it Academy – a training platform to advance marketers skills into new school digital leadership roles. Alita has worked with global brands including SAP, Experian, SEMRush, TS14+, Estee Lauder, Myer & Online Retailer. In 2015 Alita was appointed to the Board of Advisors for the Australian Technology and Gadget Expo alongside Google Earth inventor David Lorenzini. Steve Hui is the Founder and Chief Executive of iFLYflat, Australia’s leading rewards points manager, booking over 150 million points since last year. Steve comes from a background in solving complex problems in senior finance and accounting roles in corporations including Macquarie Bank, with coverage across infrastructure funds, private equity funds, banking, and outsourcing. Four years ago, Steve branched out to build iFLYflat, helping others to discover the hidden value of their points to fly in the front of the plane. From just an idea, Steve is now internationally recognised with speaking engagements in various global travel conferences. Nathan began in online retail back in 1999 moving from corporate eCommerce to private business where he built Tacklemania in 2004 from a small eBay store to a multi-million online business that expanded to a physical retail presence and then was sold in 2010. Nathan is also a NORA Board Member.
Anne is a high-profile leader with more than 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications sector and a prominent advocate for harnessing the opportunities of the digital era. Anne brings an eclectic professional background to her current business through which she runs the online retail business she founded and fulfils professional advisory and executive engagements. From a career starting as a lawyer and developing a specialty in competition law and telecommunications law and policy both in Australia and Hong Kong, Anne moved into leadership roles in network engineering and operational support for financial services multinational American Express, and then to CEO of the peak telecommunications industry association Communications Alliance. Being a leader at the forefront of policy development for Australia's broadband future and the NBN, Anne is a passionate supporter of the broadband future as the key enabler to all that the digital opportunities present.
Shannon brings over a decade of experience in e-commerce marketing and management to his role as General Manager of Bronto Software Australia. Specialising in international business development and operations, Shannon has been a driving force in growing leading brands in APAC & European territories. Shannon most recently served as General Manager of Business Operations for Élan Media Partners, and managed the firm’s offices in Hong Kong and China, overseeing operations, logistics, customer service, buying & marketing. Throughout his career, he has achieved exemplary record-setting results and success for those firms he has worked with. Shannon recently crossed to a vendor side role and now leads the Australian office of Bronto Software, a leading cloud-based marketing platform for organisations to drive revenue through their email, mobile and social campaigns.
Graham Jackson is a veteran executive with more than 23 years’ experience in sales, technology and omni-channel retail. Prior to his appointment as Chief Executive Officer for the Australian technology company, Fluent Retail, he was the Senior Vice President of APJ and China for SAP Hybris, responsible for major growth in the company and market share across the region. He was also previously the Managing Director for Bazaarvoice, and has launched two successful IT businesses in Australia and set up operations for two others. Graham holds a BA (Hons) in Economics from the University of Kent and is a trusted advisor to many top executives and industry peers.
A millennial innovator, Jason Kencevski officially took over the Speedmaster reins in 2005, implementing an online business model from nothing in 2003 to become Australia’s number one online reseller of automotive car spare parts by 2006. Strong teamwork and delivery of innovative products led to the opening of the US operation in 2006, growing today to over 75,000sqf and over 40 staff. Currently Speedmaster has offices in Sydney, Los Angeles and Shanghai with over 400 staff, and reaches over 35 countries. Jason is rightly proud of headlines such as: “A Speedmaster item is sold every minute”, "Over five million products shipped worldwide”, “Record-breaking 8-time SEMA Award Winners”. These are just some of the fun facts the Speedmaster team likes to talk about around the water cooler. Jason's main business passions are complexity reduction, becoming a leader, not just an entrepreneur, and bridging the gap from bricks and mortar to online retail.
Peter is one of Australia’s Top 50 people in E-commerce and a senior retail and business leader. Peter has been a retailer for most of his working career, in small business as well as working with some of the country’s largest public and privately owned chains such as Myer, Dymocks and Thrifty. In the digital sphere he created Australia’s largest online B2B catering marketplace dealing with many of Australia’s top 1,000 companies. Peter is a founding Director and Board Member of the Business Council of Co-operatives and Mutuals; representing 13 million Australian Co-op and Mutual members. As CEO of The Co-op up to March 2016, his role was to lead the Brand and Cultural and Business Transformation through a significant period of retail industry disruption and change as well as to develop and articulate the strategic direction, vision, purpose and ambition of the business.
Marcy is responsible for leading platform agnostic cloud and mobile Focused Growth Strategies in the industries of Retail, Travel, Hospitality and Consumer Goods. She oversees retail industry strategies, marketing, solution development, partner development, thought leadership and customer relations, ensuring the full extent of Microsoft’s industry visions and value propositions are realised locally. Marcy brings almost 22 years of deep customer, vertical technology, sales and marketing experience to this role. Marcy is also a NORA Board Member.
Phil has a deep passion for creating connections. That’s why he ended up founding two major annual conferences for digital retailers on opposite sides of the world – Australia's Internet Conference and the United States’ RetailGlobal conference, bringing creative minds from around the world together to share their stories. Phil spends significant time working with leaders in the retail world —helping them identify the big and small trends that will make the biggest impact. In addition to running the day-to-day responsibilities that come with hosting two conferences on different continents, Phil also manages a small team of incredibly dedicated conference organisers. At conference time, Phil puts on his retail shoes and focuses intensely on what attendees need most — information on the actionable steps needed to improve their business. Areas of focus are creating collaboration between retailers and their customers, educating others about what’s coming next, and connecting the world.
Anna is passionate about growing businesses and is excited about contributing to the future of the retail industry in Australia. She is a valuable 'seat at the table' contributing focused and intelligent financial, commercial and strategic input to executive management teams & boards. Anna has over 20 years' corporate experience in ANZ and APAC having held senior instrumental roles in some of the fastest growing and successful global multinational organisations like Adshel, PwC and prior to her appointment at THE ICONIC was APAC Finance Director for Groupon Inc. Anna is not your traditional CFO having managed broad remits including Finance, IT, HR, Legal and compliance functions at Finance Director/CFO capacities. She is a qualified Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with University of NSW.
Aaron is the former CFO of Winning Group (Appliances Online and Winning Appliances). The Winning Group provided Aaron with market leading experience in both online and traditional retail as well as distribution. What he was able to bring to the Group was strong finance, process and structure as well as good strategic and operational support to the CEO. From day one he set about identifying the challenges of the business and coming up with scalable solutions that would allow the business to expand. Using this experience combined with his significant international experience Aaron has teamed up with Chris White and Jeremy Paul who together ran the finance team for the Winning Group and started a new business called 3PF, which aims to partner with businesses in the earlier stages to enable them to achieve their full potential. Aaron and the 3PF team are now looking forward to using their experience to assist many more successful businesses achieve their goals.
Paul has been actively involved in the internet for commerce, service delivery and marketing since 1995. For over 15 years he has managed businesses in retail, travel, finance and publishing. In 2002, as CEO and Managing Director of HWW Limited, a publicly listed online and mobile publisher, Paul provided the leadership and vision to transform the business over four years into a strong-growth, profitable and innovative company – leading to its acquisition by ninemsn in 2006. Following HWW, Paul joined Salmat Limited and founded its digital division. Here he started Lasoo.com.au, an aggregated shopping portal, and over five years took it from concept to Australia’s leading and most engaged pre-shopping site. While leading the Lasoo business, Paul also pioneered Salmat’s eCommerce business and a range of retail digital services such as catalogue viewers, store locators, mobile applications, and social media services. Today Paul is the CEO of ratecity.com.au, a leading comparison site for retail banking products; as well as an investor and advisor in a number of online businesses servicing the Australian retail industry. Paul is recognised as a thought leader and an expert on digital media and multichannel marketing within retail, travel, finance and media. Paul has a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) from UNSW and an MBA from MGSM.
Daniel is the Principal Retail Consultant for ThoughtWorks, working closely with retailers to build innovative customer experiences. His expertise is in understanding customer behaviour, developing customer experience and helping teams to operationalise and profitably scaled. Category experience includes technology, media, homewares, apparel, footwear, toys and appliances. Daniel has been a retailer for over 15 years, working within retail operations, merchandise, marketing, and business development. Most recently leading the BIG W omni channel business, introducing online lay-by, new categories such as apparel to its customers, and Click & Collect into 180 department stores across Australia. Prior to this Daniel led the development of the online business for Dick Smith across Australia and New Zealand.
Joshua carries over 10 years experience across marketing, e-commerce and consulting in a variety of retail, startup and technology environments. Joshua was the first Head of Marketing at Startup Smart’s 2015 Best Startup Temple & Webster. Joshua has helped to shape and define the rapid growth and leading brand awareness in the Australian market of this iconic online pure-play. During this time at Temple & Webster he rapidly grew their highly engaged customer database to almost one million, launched the brand’s first integrated marketing campaign, developed charitable partnerships with Legacy Australia, and also established the brand’s partnership with leading television program “The Living Room”. He has also held senior leadership roles with The Australian Ballet, and iconic Australian fashion label Herringbone. Joshua has presented keynote addresses at e-commerce and marketing events across Australia over the past two years.
Nick Molnar has been in the online retail industry for close to 10 years. A born entrepreneur, Nick started selling jewellery at school and quickly created a successful business online. From creating the most successful jewellery store on eBay to launching Australia’s iceonline.com.au (the largest online-only jewellery and watch retailer) it was a matter of time before new ventures were born. Through a combination of retail experience coupled with his time as an Investment Analyst specifically within the technology sector, the idea of “Afterpay” was born. Launched in 2014 Afterpay is a customer-centric payment solution allowing customers to ‘Buy Now, Enjoy Now, and Pay Over Time’ otherwise known as 'reverse layby'. Afterpay is disrupting payments for the better by offering customers choice and convenience, and driving a significant uplift in key metrics for retailers. Afterpay successfully listed on the Australian Stock Exchange in May 2016.
Matt Newell specialises in retail strategy and innovation. He worked on the highly regarded reinvention of the Supercheap Auto business from 2005 - 2008 and the creation of BCF (Boating Camping Fishing), a category killer that went from $0 - $200m in two years. Matt also led the brand strategy development for Rebel Group, worked on major product launches for BMW Australia and developed the strategy for Hungry Jack's store of the future. In 2012, Matt co-founded retail strategy and innovation agency, The General Store. And in 2013 was awarded the highest accolade for store design in the world and the World Retail Awards in Paris. Matt is a regular keynote speaker within the marketing and retail industries.
Paul pioneered online selling of brand name fishing tackle by first entering the eCommerce market through eBay. He quickly moved into a successful website that integrated his eBay channel. The business has grown exponentially and now has a bricks and mortar store, a large warehouse and a successful website. Hooked online has 100% positive feedback over 3500 sku’s, a cult like following and performed over 100,000 transactions. He is also co-founder of Shopgator, providing solutions for suppliers to enter marketplaces with little additional overheads, by bringing together PIM, B2C, CRM and RMA processes in one solution that is fully managed by a team of digital experts. In his spare time he attends conferences as a motivational speaker for channel selling in Australia. With years of experience he provides valuable expertise from eBay, website operations, POS setups and warehouse management.
Gaurav Patni is globally recognized as a Retail, Consumer Goods and Digital Innovation thought leader, speaker and author. He has over 18 years of executive leadership experience, developing technology focused innovation programs for global household retail name brand organisations like Walmart, Nordstrom, Best Buy, Procter & Gamble, Loblaws, JCPenney, David Jones. He serves as an Independent Consultant and Strategic Advisor for Business and Technology Executives in the Retail & Consumer Goods Industries. Gaurav is also an Executive Advisor and Member of Sydney Angels - Australia's largest and most successful angel investor group, and serves as an Advisory Board Member and Investor at several retail and technology focused startups.
Lisa is an eCommerce expert with over 14 years experience ranging from developing and managing the Sydney 2000 Olympics websites through to Interactive TV, B2B, Telco, Start Ups and now Fashion Retailing. Lisa recently worked as the e-Business Group Manager at Apparel Group - developing the multichannel strategy for the business and the online strategy for both their fashion brands, Sportscraft and SABA, launching successful online stores for both brands. She also set up the end to end process for both online stores including supply, warehousing, fulfillment, packaging and customer services as well as developing and managing product and web content, product images, information architecture, web usability, digital marketing, affiliates programmes etc. Currently Lisa is the Head of Retail Practice and Strategy at Amblique - helping businesses get online and improve what they do online.
Oliver is an entrepreneur who started with magic at 7th grade birthday parties, followed by a jeans business in university, an aggregate buying program for SME's, graphic design studio, and a host of other ideas, projects, successes and failures. Oliver is now CEO of Octomedia, which in two short years has grown from a team of 7 to 45, with offices around the world. Oliver’s specialties lie in ideation, strategy and taking a concept from woe to go (or disregarding it), marketing, strategy and execution across all channels, and generally chewing the fat.
Andrew is the Executive General Manager - Residential, at REA Group, a leading digital business specialising in property. Prior to this, Andrew was the Senior Director of Strategy, SMB, & Retail Services with PayPal Australia. His responsibilities included sales, engagement and customer support for PayPal Australia’s tens of thousands of SMB merchants, leadership of PayPal’s in-store initiatives and development of strategic partnerships. Andrew joined PayPal from Bain and Company, where he worked for 10 years across multiple industry sectors, with a strong focus on technology and telecommunications. Andrew holds a Masters degree in International Relations and International Economics from Johns Hopkins University, and undergraduate degrees in Commerce and Arts from the University of Melbourne.
Since 2015, Michael has been the Founder and CEO of spacer.com.au, Australia’s premier peer-to-peer marketplace for self storage, connecting hosts with renters. Prior to this Michael was the co-founder & Managing Director of DealsDirect, a pioneer in the Australian online retail sector. Mike is a veteran of online retail with over 14 years’ experience across merchandise, marketing & technology. In January 2014 DealsDirect became the first Australian online retailer to list on the ASX, Mnemon Ltd.
Sharon advises clients on how to grow their businesses by effectively leveraging digital and mobile channels. Sharon has 18 years industry experience, and was previously at Bloom Consulting, an eCommerce strategy and marketing consultancy which she founded. Clients included EziBuy, Dusk, CommSec and Fairfax Media. Prior to this, Sharon had spent more than eight years at eBay Australia, where she managed eCommerce strategy formulation through to execution, during a period of phenomenal company growth. She has also worked for AMP, CBA and DealsDirect.
Sagi is the CEO of iCumulus, a Singaporean owned global e-commerce SAAS based fulfilment platform operating in Australia, New-Zealand, North America, Europe, India, Israel, and South East Asia. Out-of-the-box thinking combined with Israeli start-up mentality morphed iCumulus into a market leader providing innovative logistics solutions. The iCumulus platform assists retailers in unlocking the lucrative cross border E-Commerce trade by creating a true disruption to the traditional logistics industry. Sagi was selected to be part of Israel’s unique ‘Amirim’ education program at the age of 14, providing Sagi with the unique learning tools to become an innovative entrepreneur. Utilising 15 years of logistics experience ranging from Defence Forces to complex deep-sea diving expeditions, assisted Sagi with development of revolutionary real time logistics solutions tailor made for e-commerce unique requirements.
Ian is the CEO of the first online marketplace for international freight, CargoHound. He has extensive experience in international trade in both private and public sectors across a broad range of industries and multiple disciplines. Ian is a former Australian Trade Commissioner for the Midwest region of the United States and former Chairman of the Chicago International Trade Commissioners’ Association based out of Chicago. More recently he successfully commercialised the online platform United States Connect which provides a one-stop-shop for companies looking to export to the US.
Steve has more than 25 years senior executive management experience in combination with extensive retail and franchising exposure. Steve is a qualified NLP practitioner and Life Coach with a passion for business leadership. He has recently taken the reigns of Menulog, one of Australia's largest ever tech acquisitions, with a mandate to transform the team, processes and technology to further accelerate the meteoric rise of the online food delivery company. Chris is an eCommerce and Multi-Channel Leader and he has been delivering change projects for businesses for over 18 years in North America, the UK and Asia Pacific and has worked at the C level in multichannel retailers for a number of years in Australia. Chris now heads up the Asia Pacific practice of the UK's fastest growing Commerce and Multi-Channel Consultancy. He has worked with over 40 retailers in the region covering all aspects of the Multi-Channel from strategy through to execution and has helped many businesses accelerate their growth. Chris has spoken at various retail events in Paris, London, Montreal, Toronto, Sydney & Melbourne during his career.
James is an MBA qualified CEO with broad industry experience in both Bricks and Mortar and e-commerce retail, including International & Trans-Tasman roles and seven years with a private equity backed retail group. James has a successful record of delivering profitable growth, business turnarounds and strategic change across portfolio businesses. Formerly with REDgroup Retail James was in charge amongst other things of the highly successful e-commerce business which was transitioned to Penguin Australia in 2011. Shortly after James spearheaded the launch and growth of Bookworld to become Australia’s largest online book business in just 18 months. Before that James worked for WHSmith in the UK and led their market entry into Australia in 1999. This followed 10 years with Shell International operating in Argentina, Egypt and Europe. James has also served on NORA's board.
Darren is the vibrant, game-changing CEO of Shelfie, a robot shelf scanner that is taking the retail world by storm with its amazing insights.
