NORA in partnership with Investec Australia is pleased to invite you to an exclusive lunch that will focus on the theme of diversity in Australian retail.
As more and more research points to the value of diversity and broad perspectives in the decision making process, it is a point that cannot be ignored: both organisations and individuals must look for diversity and inclusion in the workplace, as well as recognise and value individual differences.
Hear from our panel of leaders in the retail space about how their organisations have embedded this inclusive culture into their values and strategy, and the effects this has had on their businesses.
This lunch will also provide an opportunity to network and enjoy further conversation with your like minded peers.

Please email your Expression of Interest to Brittany.

Founder and Director of Adore Beauty

Beauty advocate Kate Morris, founder of Adore Beauty, started Australia’s first beauty e-commerce site in 1999 from a garage in Melbourne at the age of 21. Starting with just $12,000 and two little known cosmetic companies on board, Adore Beauty has grown to more than 200 brands, 13,000 products, and hundreds of thousands of customers. A university job on the cosmetic counters led Kate to realise that most women found department stores intimidating and unpleasant. Kate was inspired to create a disruptive beauty shopping experience that empowered consumers. In May 2015, Adore Beauty announced an investment from retail giant Woolworths Limited. Kate was awarded the Business Innovation Award for Victoria at the Telstra Business Women’s Awards in 2014, and was inducted into the Australian Businesswomen’s Network Hall of Fame in 2015. In 2017 Kate was the first woman to be awarded the Industry Recognition Award for online retail in the nine year history of the StarTrack ORIAs. A passionate advocate for gender equality, Kate was named the Top three person in e-commerce for 2018 by Inside Retail.

Founder of St Frock

Sandradee Makejev is the founder of St Frock an online Women’s and Fashion boutique. Sandraee was working in fashion PR and marketing when in 2005 she started selling select on-trend women’s clothing at Bondi Beach Markets. In 2009 when heavy rain was predicted over the next two years, Sandradee started thinking out of the box because rain and market stalls don’t mix.
Sandradee launched St Frock’s Facebook fan page with a few terrible images and invited some close friends to the page. The next morning she awoke to $350 worth of orders and realised she was on to something. Fast-forward three months and St Frock’s fan page had grown to 1600+ girls and Sandradee had quit her job. Sandradee used Facebook as way to share her story as her business grew while connecting and selling via email to market customers at home in Sydney and around Australia.
In August 2010, St Frock’s first boutique opened on Harris St, Pyrmont. Today they still have a boutique and an online office above with 35 employees.
