Paul established NORA around five years ago to answer a growing need in the industry for an association that was forward-facing, relevant, and inclusive.
Prior to NORA, he was the co-founder of DealsDirect, Australia's first online discount department store, in 2004, and is widely regarded as one of the pioneers of online retail in Australia.
Paul has had an entrepreneurial career spanning nearly four decades. He is also a registered psychologist with a keen interest in organizational psychology. Outside of his NORA role, Paul holds a portfolio of advisory and investment roles, including Afterpay, National Retail Association (NRA), and Satellite Office.
A positive and motivating keynote speaker, Paul has spent years educating and entertaining audiences locally and abroad with his engaging and insightful presentations. He is passionate about uplifting the spirits of retailers nationwide and always seeks to provide a ‘glass half-full’ perspective.
In recognition of Paul's contribution to the industry, he was awarded the inaugural Industry Recognition Award at the Online Retail Industry Awards in 2011. The award paid tribute to his services to the growth and development of online retail in Australia.
Paul was also named one of Inside Retail's 50 Most Powerful Retailers in 2013.
Paul’s unwavering commitment to supporting the retail community saw him top Demandware’s Influencer 50 list in 2016.
Speaking ranks highly as one of Paul's passions. His wealth of knowledge in the areas of retail, business, trends, and technology blend well with his background in psychology to captivate and illuminate audiences.
"Paul is not just an accomplished and highly successful entrepreneur. He’s also one of Australia’s most entertaining, and authoritative speakers on the topics of technology, entrepreneurship and leadership. Having co-founded Australia’s first online department store, the mega-successful Deals Direct, and seen that company go public, Paul can speak with enormous credibility on what it takes to create, grow and sell a business, be it a fledgling startup or a multi-million dollar enterprise. His stories and wisdom are derived from hard-lived experience which means his ability to cut to the chase and provide tangible, practical advice that works is second to none. When Paul speaks, people listen. CEOs, government ministers, entrepreneurial superstars – everyone turns to Paul to find out ‘what’s happening next’. If you need a speaker to shake up the status quo and get the conversation started, Paul is the speaker for you.”
