SYDNEY, 20 MAY 2019 — Cover Genius, a global insurance distribution platform for the
world’s largest ecommerce companies, has announced the appointment of Richard Hankin as
Head of Retail Partnerships for the Asia-Pacific region. The appointment comes as the insurtech
continues its push to provide the world’s largest companies and ecommerce platforms with its
customer-centric insurance solutions, having thus far yielded a 397 per cent increase in policies
sold year-over-year.

Hankin will oversee the insurtech’s new and existing retail partnerships throughout Asia-Pacific
region to provide insurance to the world’s largest ecommerce brands within the growing
insurtech industry, which, according to a recent report from Insurtech Australia and EY, has
grown by 53 per cent over the past year in Australia.

“I am thrilled to join Cover Genius and help provide Australia’s biggest ecommerce companies
with customer-centric solutions that bring genuine utility to their customers,” said Hankin.
“Insurtech partnerships present a unique opportunity for retailers, particularly those looking to
increase customer engagement within their ecosystems and to integrate new technologies that
unearth new revenue opportunities.”

Hankin brings with him a wealth of knowledge in the industry as well as opportunities for
strategic partnerships. Prior to joining Cover Genius, he was Head of Commercial Partnerships
at eBay Australia and New Zealand. He has experience leading teams that partnered with 80 of
the top 100 retailers including Bunnings, Coles, Microsoft and Dan Murphys. Hankin also
managed key strategic partnerships with Google and Shopify.

“Richard is a great addition to our expanding team, especially as we look to further cultivate new
partnerships within the retail sector,” said Angus McDonald, CEO and Co-founder at Cover
Genius. “His appointment represents our commitment to changing the way people think about
the value of insurance while helping retailers to remain competitive and provide outstanding
customer experiences.”
Hankin’s appointment follows several senior hires in recent months to meet the growth in
demand for insurtech, including Peter Phillips as Chief Technology Officer, Chris Toft as Head
of Insurance APAC and Justin Turner as Head of Strategic Partnerships - Logistics.
